    Goodafternoon.

It's Ingrid and Trentham here just letting you know that, after finishing a delivery, we're looking for work again. We had to go to Australia on a family emercency but will be flying back to the States on the 3rd of October. If nothing comes up for us before that we'll be flying to Fort Lauderdale to be in time before the boatshow starts.

Hope to hear from you soon,

      Good morning everyone,

It's Ingrid Doorn and Trentham Jones checking in from St.Maarten. We have a St.Maarten phone number now so if you hear of anything that might be of interest for us please let us know. Our number here is +599 553 7945. Maybe just an update on what we really would like, not saying that we won't consider anything else of course. We are a chief stewardess and 1st mate or bosun (depending on the size vessel) and are both people that like to have some people around us to work with. So a minimum crew of 6 would be great. Money and itinerary are not of the prime importance it's more a hard working and fun, stable environment that we'd thrive the best. We're very organized, used to high standards and have a keen eye on detail. Although our resume might prove otherwise (this last year we deliberately choose to do some deliveries) we are looking for longevity.

Thanks for your time and effort and we hope to hear from you soon.

      Kind regards,

      Ingrid Doorn and Trentham Jones

    Hi Deb and Chris,

How are things with you both? I am currently in Palma working on a 37m Palma Johnson Motor Yacht which is about to commence a 3 month yard period. I will then be coming back to Australia to live for a year so i will come by and say hello once im back home in Newport. I cant wait to get home.

Forgot to mention that I will be arriving in Australia, with my girlfriend Jessica around January 2008 and we will both be looking immediately for work. I sent a copy of our resumes. I have not included on it the work that I have done this season as a Deckhand on M.Y HUSH, the 37m Palma Johnson.
We are both looking for permanent work in the yachting industry, and would consider positions on the same or seperate boats.

    Kind Regards

      G'Day Glen,

To start work on a superayacht there are two 'tickets' or qualifications that you require...

Firstly, the STCW95, a basic safety course, which is mandatory for crew to hold for vessel insurance purposes (check out:
      http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/stcw95.html ).
Secondly, a deckhands or yacht rating certificate. This ticket not only proves that you have some competenency in the maritime industry, but also shows that you are interested in the industry, giving you a step ahead when applying for a position (check out:
      http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/superyacht_deckhand.html )

Once you have got some qualifications (which we can help you with), we also have a crew placement division which will help find you a job worldwide.

      Regards,
      Chris.

        Hi there

Thanks for your blog I would probably recommend heading towards a Master of Yachts coastal 200tons or the Master of Yachts offshore 200tons qualifications which are both internationally recognised by the MCA.

        http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/superyacht_crew_certification.html

        http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/Yachtmaster_Offshore_course.html

after gaining the qualification you are then very eligible for being recruited onto a foreign flagged superyacht, starting off as a deckhand and moving up to a first mates position. You have good experience and skills behind you which will be very impressive on your resume when you go for interviews. Hope we can help you achieve your lifestyle…

      Hi Pierre

There are definitely skippers and owners out there who are looking for dedicated and passionate crew - specially engineers. You are an ideal candidate for deckhand/engineer or 2nd or 3rd engineer.

However, the crew on superyachts, no matter what there position, need qualifications. For people in your position, who want to get into the engineering side of the superyachts, we recommended that you first complete an STCW95 course, which is the mandatory basic safety certificate required on the these vessel. Look here for more info ...
      http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/stcw95.html .

We would also recommend completing a deckhands course. This will help you get a job as a deckhand/engineer which will get your foot in the door. With your experience it should not be hard to find a job such as this. Look here for details on the deckhands course ...
      http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/superyacht_deckhand.html .

Once you have landed that first job you can start you career in engineering by completing a short course called AEC (Approved Engine Course). This is specific to the large yachts and absolutley neccessary to kick start your career.

I hope this helps and let us know if you have any questions.
