G'day, I'm after some help to track down a friend Andrew Langley, Australian. Andrew was a Captain of a Mega yacht in the Med some years ago. Last i heard from him he was looking at Captaining a Yacht in the USA. Andrew would be close to retirement. We both went to school together and i would like to catch up.

If you know of him please pass on my email. Thank you.

Comment on Where Are They Now

hey mate hows it going! all good over here livn the dream been having an awesome time spent 6 weeks in malta getting the boat ready then took off for the season. hit a log on the first night we left at around 2 in the morning pretty scary shit loads of water coming in through the prop fitting. 3 of us on board bilge pumps running manual bilge pumps you name it! right in the middle of sicily and turkey 100 miles from any coast make or break style had the chef prepping the life rafts and supplies and everything it was a long night but we ended up making it. had to get pulled out with a travel hoist as soon as we stopped in Greece because when we were on the plane the water came in slower. to topp it off we were running out of petrol because we only calculated at traveling 10 kts through the night but had to bump it up to 20 to save us. all god we got the boat on the hard in a little greek town and then got on the lash hard celebrating life even took the agent out with us for a wild on she was a pretty funny lady. heres a pic of us and the boat once we got it out of the water. hope everything is good with you say hi to deb for me ps i probably should look at getting my licence soon i left with out it just like last time. anyway mate have a good one! any gainers??
Hello Adam

We’re still in the middle of crew training, with lots of crew already headed to the Med, which I believe from many recruiters, has plenty of jobs going. The Benetti itinerary sounds just perfect, south pacific cruising in winter, lucky you. Have a wonderful season and drop us a line when you can. We’re so glad to hear you landed this great job.

Kind regards

Deb.

Comment on Where Are They Now
Just wanted to touch base with you and Chris. Look forward to hopefully hearing from you soon. Have a great weekend!

Really good to see lots of new crew heading o/s. I would love to crew up our new build with the majority being Australians as I know they have a great work ethic!

My deckhand is a guy who I met through your course and stayed in touch with, and we have now worked together for 12 months on the same boat! I catch up with about 5 others who were on the course throughout the Med during the season also!

I will continue to forward your details onto friends who are interested in the industry, as I have had a few complete the course recently which is exciting!

Take care and thanks again, as always for your help, Deb.

Regards
Hi Tony

Thanks for your email.

The STCW95 is essential to finding work and is the minimum standard for of safety in manning required by the superyachts, so it' great your are doing this. The other courses will also be very good experience and will give you some great skills for working in the maritime industry... however they don't seem to be (superyacht) industry specific and aren't commericially recognised? I would suggest checking the costs against the validity of the tickets.

Regarding the couples work, the industry is about 50-50 whether they will employee couples. Jobs are usually a little harder to find but we have plenty of coulpes coming through our school who do find work. There are pros and cons to employing couples.

Don't forget to register with the crew agencies as they are a great tool in finding work.

Good luck
Deb
